Speaking in an interview on Good Evening Ghana post his sudden suspension from Angel FM over his criticisms of the poor performance of the government, Captain Smart has asserted that the media in Ghana has failed.
According to him, the media should be addressing developmental issues and failures of politicians instead of talking about matters which doesn’t add up to the transformation agenda of Ghana.

He further stated that should the media rise and work together in pushing the government to work, Ghana will be a better place. “You can have a good leader who is lazy. It will take the media to push that leader… to work,” he said.
But relating that scenario to real-life Ghanaian political space, Captain Smart indicated that the media isn’t pushing the leadership of the country to work. “If you have a failed media, you have a failed country.”
His argument comes as resonate call by several Ghanaians who have accused the media of turning a blind eye and refusing to speak on the poor performance of the incumbent government.
He believes the media should do more to push the leaders of the country to work and to lead properly. That’s is the only salvation for the country. “If we are not careful we will be singing certain songs that don’t have a dancing mood. And it is very critical for us as journalists to stand for this country, not our personal interest,” he observed. Adding up he said: “If we the media wake up, every government will work.”
